About the Business
The first Hopscotch children's nursery was opened in 1988 in Brighton by local teacher, Barbara Ford, whose vision was to create safe, caring and fun childcare which was affordable for all parents. Since then the group has developed five day nurseries in the Brighton, Hove and East Sussex area with 140 staff members providing childcare for around 600 families each week. Hopscotch Children's Nurseries have become synonymous with professionalism, innovation and excellence in childcare.
The management team, still led with passion and inspiration by Barbara and her Operations Director, Jo Halling, all live locally and are parents themselves; their children have attended Hopscotch and local schools, and they have a sound knowledge of, and a commitment to, the community. Hopscotch nurseries are part of their neighbourhood; they have strong links with schools, health professionals, churches, charities, LEAs, colleges and other groups in their area.
