Ciara Loughran (NICMA) Northern Ireland Childminder of the Year. Ciara was chosen from six finalists after being whittled down from almost 100 entrants. The judges of the awards; Director of the Northern Ireland Childminding Association (NICMA), Bridget Nodder, and broadcaster and 'young mum' Tina Campbell, chose Ciara as the childminder who best represented all that is good about registered childminding in Northern Ireland. Ciara was nominated for the award by Kelly Adger whose two children, Taylor (9) and Kurtis (6), Ciara looks after. Kelly said, I nominated Ciara because she is so flexible and understanding as I work shifts. My son is profoundly deaf and Ciara gives him all the care and attention he needs. He requires extra time in explaining things, which she gives him and praises him so much. He really has come on so much in the past two years and this is partly due to the help and support of Ciara, she continued.
